I've always been a creative person and started with goals of being a graphic designer making covers for video games. This love of design led me to study web design and development where I learned to take a more technical view on creativity, leading me to where I am today.
I am currently based in Glasgow but I'm often traveling around. 🌍
I like to chat a lot and have too many hobbies.
2017 - Present
Over the eight years I have worked here I have had the chance to work on many different exciting projects. These include, the GameMaker game engine, Wonderland mobile game streaming app, 3D - 2D a GameMaker companion app to convert 3D models to 2D sprites, many web systems and much much more.
I have lead the design of many important GameMaker features and large scale workflow designs and have been responsible for most of the UX work that makes up the current software. All whilst working closely with developers and project managers to refine the design process we use.
I have helped shape the systems and strategies we use to make sure we strive for the perfect solutions for our users. These are areas such as leading the creation of our design system, methods for investigating user feedback, cross team collaboration and mentoring junior members of the team.
2015 - 2017
I initially worked as a web designer providing wireframes, mockups and front-end development utilising my skills in HTML, CSS, Javascript and WordPress. I then moved on to become the sole designer and focused on UI/UX. I worked closely with many different clients with varying styles and user needs, for both web and mobile apps.
2010 - 2014
Recently I have started venturing out from behind my desk and into the wild to speak publicly about my experiences and practices as a designer.
UX Scotland
I gave a talk at the UX Scotland conference at Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh last year. Talking about how to make design changes to long-lasting tools, that users are deeply familiar with, whilst keeping the user on board.
Opera Design Meet Up - Gothenburg
I had the chance to talk about some of the recent large-scale feature designs I had worked on and co-run a design workshop to get everyone in the mindset and processes we use daily in software design.
Glasgow Caledonian University
Being asked to give a lecture at Glasgow Caledonian University was a great honour and something I am very proud of. I covered my general experiences and some case studies for master's design students.
